health insurance – private insurance
International health insurance
Living in Cambodia is generally straightforward, until you need medical treatment. Quality private healthcare is available, but serious treatment can quickly become expensive, good medical care here comes at international prices, and the right hospital network can be the difference between a manageable bill and a financial shock. In some situations, you may also need to travel elsewhere in Southeast Asia for specialist care.
That is why the right health insurance is about more than simply paying hospital bills. It is about knowing where you can be treated, what your insurer will actually cover, and what happens if the care you need isn’t available locally — and having a broker on the ground who knows the answers.
For 20 years, AG Insurance Broker has helped expatriates, individuals and families in Cambodia answer exactly those questions. We know the local hospital network, the doctors and the care pathways in detail, and we work only with established international insurers selected among the leaders in their market, solid, reliable and responsive solutions, backed by a local team on hand to facilitate pre-authorisations and reimbursements. All our solutions guarantee renewal, whatever your claims history.
Our plans give you access to trusted local and regional hospital networks, structured across local, regional (Southeast Asia) and worldwide cover, including medical evacuation. Plans can include dependants and family cover and maternity options, with a claims process built around direct billing; so the clinics you actually use are paid directly by the insurer, rather than leaving you to fund treatment and reclaim it later.
Depending on the plan you choose, your cover can include treatment in Cambodia, throughout Southeast Asia or worldwide, together with medical evacuation when required.
What can be covered
Hospitalisation

Outpatient Care
Cover for everyday medical treatment such as doctor visits, specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, laboratory work, X-rays and prescribed medication.
Emergency Care & Evacuation
Protection for emergency treatment, ambulance services and, where included, medical evacuation to an appropriate medical facility.
Maternity
Selected plans can include prenatal care, delivery, postnatal treatment and pregnancy-related complications, with newborn cover available under some policies.
Dental & Optical
Optional benefits may include routine dental treatment, fillings and extractions, as well as eye examinations and allowances for prescription glasses or lenses.
Preventive Care & Wellness
Some plans also include health screenings, vaccinations and ongoing support for certain chronic conditions.
Health insurance designed around how you live
There is no single plan that suits everyone. A young professional mainly looking for protection against a major hospital bill has very different needs from a family with children or a couple planning a pregnancy. We help you compare different levels of cover, from essential inpatient protection to comprehensive international medical insurance including outpatient care, maternity and other benefits, so you get a solution genuinely adapted to your situation.
Plans may include:
– Local, regional (Southeast Asia) or worldwide hospital networks
– Medical evacuation when the right care isn’t available locally
– Dependants and family cover
– Maternity options
– Direct billing, so clinics are paid directly by your insurer, rather than leaving you to fund treatment and reclaim it later
Coverage varies between insurers and plans, which is why understanding the details before you buy matters. This is where a broker fits in: we scrutinise the contract and explain it in plain words, drawing on two decades of local experience to guide you toward the solution that actually fits your situation.

Three levels of
international health insurance
A - Hospitalisation + Medical Evacuation
This is the most straightforward level of private health insurance. It protects you against the cost of serious illness, accidents or medical conditions requiring hospital admission: inpatient treatment such as surgery, hospital accommodation, intensive care and other eligible hospital expenses. Medical evacuation is included as standard in the plans we offer, giving you an essential safety net should the treatment you need not be available locally.
Outpatient consultations, routine doctor visits and prescriptions are generally not covered at this level.
Best suited to: people looking for essential protection against major medical expenses while keeping their insurance premium under control.
B - Comprehensive Health Insurance + Medical Evacuation
Should you want broader access to private healthcare, a comprehensive plan combines hospitalisation cover with outpatient treatment. Alongside inpatient care, your policy can cover visits to general practitioners and specialists, diagnostic examinations and prescribed medication. Depending on the insurer and level selected, additional benefits such as physiotherapy or mental health treatment may also be available.
Best suited to: people looking for essential protection against major medical expenses while keeping their insurance premium under control.
C - Comprehensive Health Insurance + Maternity + Medical Evacuation
Should you be planning to start or grow your family, maternity cover can be added to selected comprehensive plans. Depending on the policy, maternity benefits can include prenatal and postnatal care, normal delivery, Caesarean delivery and certain newborn or pregnancy-related complications. Maternity cover normally needs to be arranged in advance, so it’s particularly important to discuss your plans with us before pregnancy.
Best suited to: individuals and couples planning a pregnancy who want access to private maternity care as part of their international health insurance.
we explain
Why medical evacuation matters in Cambodia
Medical evacuation is one of the most important elements of health insurance in Cambodia. Many conditions can be treated locally, but there are situations where the appropriate specialist, facility or treatment simply isn’t available. Should this happen, medical evacuation cover arranges and pays for an eligible transfer to an appropriate medical facility, subject to the terms of your policy and medical approval from the insurer, with our local team on hand to help coordinate the process.
Without adequate insurance, an emergency medical evacuation can represent a very significant personal expense. That is why medical evacuation is included in every international health insurance solution offered through AG Insurance Broker.
